Do you use nitrites or preservatives in your jerky?

No. All Carzan jerky is 100% nitrite-free, and we do not use celery extract or any alternative curing agents. Our jerky is made using simple ingredients and traditional methods, without artificial preservatives of any kind.

What does "grass-fed & finished" mean?

Our beef comes from cattle that are grass-fed and grass-finished right here on the Canadian Prairies. For most of the year, our cattle graze on pasture, eating a natural diet of grasses and forage. During our long Canadian winters, they continue eating a forage-based diet of hay and legume silage. At no point are our cattle grain-finished — they remain on a forage-based diet from start to finish.

Is Carzan jerky gluten-free?

There is absolutely no gluten in any of our products, and all Carzan jerky is made in a gluten-free certified facility. We are currently working toward full gluten-free certification across every ingredient in our supply chain, but no gluten-containing ingredients are used in any Carzan product.

Why clean ingredients?

Because we've lived the struggle. After eating keto, carnivore, and paleo, we realized how hard it was to find snacks that truly fit those lifestyles once you flipped the label. That eye-opener pushed us to build jerky we could actually eat ourselves, with no hidden junk and no shortcuts.

Do you use your own beef?

Carzan started by using 100% beef raised on our own ranch. As the business grew, demand quickly outpaced what our farm alone could supply. Today, we source grass-fed beef from trusted regenerative ranchers across the Canadian Prairies, including some beef that still comes from our own ranch, allowing us to maintain quality, consistency, and values while continuing to grow.

How much protein is in a serving of Carzan jerky?

Carzan jerky is high in protein, with exact amounts varying slightly by flavour and format. On average, you can expect around 10 grams of protein per serving. Please refer to the nutrition panel on each product page for specific details.

How much sugar is in a serving?

Our jerky ranges from 0g of sugar per serving (like our Street Taco flavour) up to a maximum of 3g per serving, depending on the recipe. We sweeten with honey where needed and keep our sugar levels significantly lower than most conventional jerky brands.

Is Carzan jerky keto-friendly?

Many of our products are keto-friendly, and we formulate our recipes with low sugar and low net carbs in mind. If your daily net carb target is around 24g, you could easily enjoy multiple servings of Carzan jerky while staying on track. Always check individual nutrition labels to choose the best option for your needs.

Where is Carzan jerky made?

All Carzan jerky is made in Saskatchewan, Canada, using Canadian beef and crafted to meet federal food safety standards.

How long does Carzan jerky stay fresh?

Our jerky bars are good for 24 months unopened. Our resealable bags are good for 12 months unopened. Once opened, we recommend enjoying within a couple of weeks for the best flavour and texture.

Yes — we ship all across Canada. Shipping starts at $17.50 and is free on orders over $150. Orders ship out of Saskatchewan every Wednesday, with delivery typically taking 2–5 business days in Western Canada and 5–10 business days in Eastern Canada.

Why don't you use nitrites like most jerky brands?

Most jerky leans on nitrites — or "natural" sources like celery powder, which is really just nitrites in disguise — to fix the colour and stretch shelf life. We skip it. Our jerky is preserved the traditional way, through proper drying and smoking, so you get real flavour without the workaround.
